Back to School Skin

The transition of summer into fall is so lovely! The cooler nights, the hints of the beautiful foliage change! We also love that 'back to school' feeling (even though it's been over 12 years since we've attended study hall or stressed about prom)!

As great as the changing of seasons can be, it IS also a transition that can wreak havoc on your skin. Shifts in weather can cause anything from breakouts to dullness and dryness. We've compiled some beauty tips to help you through this change from summer to fall, and come out on the other side with fresh, glowing skin!

Tip #1: Exfoliate

The inevitable sun exposure over the summer can cause dryness, making your skin look older and dull. You can fix this by getting rid of dead skin cells with exfoliation! Make sure to exfoliate once a week for dry skin (and 2x is fine for oily skin). You don't need to go out and buy a fancy exfoliator, either. We love adding a couple of teaspoons of sugar to our favorite daily cleanser. 

Tip #2:  Drink Up!

It can be so hard to remember to drink those 8-10 glasses of water per day, but they are crucial if you want hydrated, supple skin! Keep a cup or water bottle at your desk at work to remind you to drink. Also, if you get bored of just drinking plain water, take a couple seconds to pack yourself lemon, lime, or cucumber slices in a ziplock bag to plop into your water. It keeps it more interesting, and you'll be more likely to get your needed hydration!

Tip #3:  Hydrate, Hydrate, HYDRATE

OK, you're probably making fun of us for the almost hysterics we get into over hydrating your skin, but GUYS it's so important! Make sure to wear a lightweight moisturizer during the day, and feel free to really quench your skin at night after removing all traces of makeup! Humble brag here, but Neem Cream is the perfect day AND night moisturizer. Neem Oil and Neem Leaf Extract are natural sources of Vitamin E, a skin-saver for dryness and tightness! Neem Cream is also rich in Omega Fatty Acids, which are like superfoods for moisture-zapped skin!

Tip #4:  Take It Off

Your makeup, that is. Have this be a cardinal rule for yourself if you want great skin this fall. Make sure every night before bed you thoroughly cleanse your face. This prevents breakouts and helps your nightly treatment of Neem Nectar soak in deeper. Make sure to get all eye makeup off too, saving yourself black smudges on your pillows, and helping to prevent lash loss!

Tip #5:  Get Zen

Stress can cause breakouts and dark under eye circles. While we can't prescribe the perfect anti-stress regime because everyone is different, we do HIGHLY recommend meditation. Even if you only have 5 minutes, it can make a world of difference in combatting your stress levels! Take 5 minutes later today when you are alone and sit quietly, allowing thoughts to drift in and out of your mind. If a 'to do list' item comes up, just acknowledge it, and try to refocus your energies on calm. This makes a big difference for your stress levels, and your skin may just thank you too!
